چکیده

One of the major challenges in reusing cooling tower blowdown water (CTBD) utilizing membrane processes is its remaining organic compounds, e.g., humic substances leading to biofouling. Besides, possible abundance chloride CTBD imposes concern formation chlorinated by-products. To choose a pre-treatment process for studied composition, various advanced oxidation (AOPs), including electrooxidation (EO), photocatalytic degradation (PCD), heat-activated persulfate (PS), UVC/vacuum UV (UVC/VUV), and UVC processes, were evaluated compared based on two main targets: i) highest removal mineralization organics, especially substances; ii) lowest by-products adsorbable halides oxychlorides. All conducted natural condition real CTBD, while solution pH was monitored. Based results chemical oxygen demand, total carbon, dissolved UV254 absorbance, liquid-chromatography–organic carbon detection (LC-OCD), fluorescence excitation-emission matrices (FEEM), it concluded that PS leads complete compounds along with low molecular weight acids neutrals. FEEM LC-OCD data also indicated EO, PCD, UVC/VUV brought about substantial broke down into building blocks organics. EO exhibited AOX oxychlorides formation, these limited when using other AOPs. Summarizing, PS, efficient organics without generating significant amounts

2-Chlorophenol Removal of Aqueous Solution Using Advanced Oxidation Processes Resulting from Iron/ Persulfate and Ultra Violet/ Persulfate

Background: Advanced oxidation processes are used to remove toxic aromatic compounds with low biodegradability, such as 2-chlorophenol. This study investigates the use of Sulfate (SO4-) and persulfate (S2O82-) radicals, as one of the advanced oxidation methods, to remove 2- chlorophenol from aquatic solutions. Materials and Methods: This experimental and pilot-scale study was carried out usi...

UV/ H2O2 Advanced Oxidation Process for Simultaneous Removal of NO and SO2: A Review

This study presents a review on advanced oxidation processes (AOP) for simultaneous removal of NO and SO2. AOP is based on using a strong oxidant such as ozone and H2O2 which is able to generate highly reactive intermediates. The pollutant will be oxidized and removed by these intermediates. In recent years, AOP has been considered as an effective and attractive technology in the field of flue ...

removal of herbicide mecoprop from surface water using advanced oxidation processes (aops)

in the last twenty years, due to a number of natural and anthropogenic reasons, many water sources have become poorer in quality with respect to micropollutants. an example of a micropollutant that needs to be removed is the chlorophenoxypropionic herbicide mecoprop (mcpp). mcpp is one of the nine pesticides used as an indicator to monitor pesticide concentrations in rivers because it is freque...
